Profiles

John Miller

"The Singing Conductor", John has been a lifelong fan of country music, in particular his hero Hank Williams. As well as being a solo performer John was also the vocalist/ frontman, guitarist and principal songwriter with Glasgow's Radio Sweethearts.

Married to Susan (who co-designed both Radio Sweethearts album covers) John's ambition is to be able to make enough of a living from his music to be able to give up his "dreaded day job".

Martin Barrett

Handsome College lecturer Martin is the last permanent recruit to the ranks of the Country Casuals. He is also one of Scotland's top rockabilly guitarists and, being so, is very much in demand.

His other bands include, among others, The Tennessee Hotshots, The Cobramatics and, most recently, The FretTones.

Andy McDowell

Andy is the youngest member and, as such, the "baby" of the band. Maybe that would explain why he always falls asleep in the car!

Andy says he's in the band as a "babe magnet" ( a non functioning one as far as I can see) but, in reality, he's "only here for the beer".

As you can see from his photo he has also developed the unique talent of playing bass and "flipping the bird" at the same time.

Photobucket Tim Davidson

Pedal Steel player Tim plays guitar for one of Glasgow's finest new bands Attic Lights

If you watched the remake of Minder with Shane Richie you'll have heard Attic Lights performing a fine version of the theme tune.

His partner is the lovely Tracyanne from Camera Obscura - another very fine Glasgow band.

Tim went to school with television's Declan Donnelly of dynamic tv combo Ant and Dec (and pop sensation pj and duncan).

Noel O'Donnell

Highlander Noel O'Donnell is also a member of Attic Lights.

He plays drums and is also a very fine singer.

Noel is a hill walker and has conquered 2 (count them!) munros: a munro is a Scottish mountain over 3000 feet tall.

Not that he's resting on his laurels, he is still busy providing his wonderful steel licks for a variety of bands including The City Sinners and The Rodneys.

Malcolm plays on John's first two albums and was also the steel player in John's former band Radio Sweethearts.

Malcolm recently recorded with another former Casual, Graham Shipcote.

He is also the head honcho at Shoeshine Records and manager of Attic Lights and Camera Obscura.

As if that didn't keep him busy enough, he is also Daddy to little Hugh - and the Stork is on his way with another wee Macdonald.

Thomas Marsden

Tom Marsden goes by the self-styled moniker of The Electric Sideboard, a name he affectionately give to his old lap-steel guitar.

Tom dragged that same lap-steel around Europe on 2 tours with The Country Casuals.

Tom can also be heard on The Primevals CD 'There Is No Other Life And This Is It'.

Trivia Fans please note: The Primevals drummer Paul Bridges was drummer in John's very first band 'Murder Story' many, many years ago.
